Looking at the title of this article you're probably thinking
'here we go again... another piece about building a giant opt-in
list... sending thousands of emails... being number one on
Google...ad nauseam'
Not so!
Hundreds, if not thousands, (and one author I know says
millions!) of people who have listened to a mere handful of
people who have built a profitable online business bought into
the notion that:
(a)if you posted a site, listed it with the search engines and
emailed millions of people with an 'outrageous' offer you could
sit on the sand at the beach with an adult beverage in your hand
and the money would roll in, or
(b) You could join THEIR affiliate program and email millions of
people with THEIR 'outrageous' offer linked to you, then you
could sit on the sand at the beach with an adult beverage in your
hand and the money would roll in.
That hasn't worked for others and I suspect that they are not
working for you either.
Let's take a look for a minute and ask the question, WHY?
The first reason is very simple. PROFITS are what you earn after
you have worked and paid for all of the costs of your business.
The keyword here is... 'worked'
The second reason is also very simple. No matter how much you
paid for this 'e-course' or that 'sure-fire-way-to-make-money' or
the other 'Super Guru Seminar' or signed up for the 'free
affiliate program' you were left floating in the wind with
little, if any, training or support.
The keywords... 'training and support'
No successful, profitable business was ever built or run without
WORK by its owners, employees, associates and/or sales force.
And no business either online or offline can be successful
without TRAINING and SUPPORT for the owners, employees,
associates and/or sales force.
Many times in my practice I hear, '...wait a minute, Rob. I am
the owner, employee and the sales force! How does this apply to
me?'
Let me give you an example.
I have a client who owns a stationary store. That's his
business. He doesn't know how to make pens, paper or envelopes
and doesn't want to know. But he does need to know what is the
best way for him to show the products and provide his customers
with the benefits so that his customers will buy, he can pay his
bills and make a profit. That's where the training and support
from his suppliers come in.
He has two major suppliers.
From one he regularly receives catalogs in the mail, email and an
occasional fax. That supplier receives about 5% of his
business.
From the other a representative comes to his store, brings the
catalogs and makes suggestions as to the best way to show the
products and provide the benefits so that the customers will buy,
he will pay his bills and make a profit. This supplier receives
the other 95%.
This is what one might call a 'duh' question, but let me ask it
anyway. If you were the supplier, would you rather be the first
or second? DUH, the second of course.
What does all that have to do with the Internet and your online
business?
Until now the Internet was like the first supplier. No human
touch - no face-to-face.
A great thing has occurred that I know will change the Internet
forever. Macromedia came out with Flash Player 7.This technology
allows streaming of full motion video files, but what really
makes this newest version of the Flash technology so important is
that it works on ALL computers and does not require special
servers to deliver it.
Today you can meet with all of your customers, associates and
suppliers FACE-TO-FACE. This allows you to receive the training
and support you deserve from your suppliers, provide training and
support to your employee's, associates and/or sales force and
more importantly it allows you to provide the ultimate in
customer service. That means more sales and greater profits to you.
So now the choice is yours. You can continue banging your head
against the wall, or you can move into the 21st Century and build
a profitable online business.
Are you ready to play?
