(To the tune of the Coke commercial song)
I'd like to teach moms to work at home
and be there for their kids,
I'd take them by the hand
and find the perfect company.
It's the song I sing...
Ok, so I'm not a great song writer. (Just be glad you didn't
have to hear me sing it.)
It is the cry of many a mom's heart to stay home with their
children. Even women who always believed that they would be
die-hard, fast-track 'Career Moms' are finding out it isn't
easy to walk away from that sweet baby in the morning.
My friend Alice Seba, the owner of InternetBasedMoms.com
receives so many phone calls from Moms who want help finding
a home based income that she has added a message to her
answering service giving them directions to her website.
We see it on all of the message boards. Every day there are
new Moms discovering the WAHM websites and they call out for
help from the women who are already in a home business for
advice and ideas.
The emails that I have received have come close to breaking
my heart.
One young mom named Wendy wrote me about her situation and I
asked her for permission to share it with you. She writes
"I'm a college graduate and I have a lot of student loans to
repay. My husband and I bought us both new cars right after
we got married. We had good jobs and no plans to start a
family very soon. Well, just six months later I was pregnant
and now our son is six weeks old and I have to go back to
work. My heart aches. How can I do it? If I don't go back to
work we can't pay the bills. I could sell my car but no one
will give me what we owe on it. My student loans are a chunk
too. We want to buy a house soon too. What can I do? Please
tell me that there is something that I can do from home that
will earn me enough to replace my salary!"
Oh Wow! What can I say to this young mom? She didn't tell me
her actual salary but when people ask that questions they
are generally asking, "Can I make $2000 a month at home?"
and the answer to that is not an easy one.
Sure you can make $2000 a month at home. But it won't happen
overnight. Most moms who start developing a home based
income find that several months can pass with no income and
then when it does start, it can be slow going for awhile.
That's just the reality of a starting a business.
I wrote back to Wendy and I told her this: "I would be lying
to you if I told you that you can replace your salary fast
enough that your bills won't fall behind. I wish I could
tell you something different but your current debt has you
painted into a corner. The good news is you don't have
to stay in that corner forever. You may have to go back to
work for a little while, but if you start making plans now,
you could come home in six months or a year with less debt
over your head and a great business idea to put to work."
Not everyone has obstacles quite so large to overcome but
most have a few to deal with. An uncooperative husband or
family, a lack of finances to invest into a business idea or
simply a lack of ideas. (Well that one is easy enough to
remedy!)
I want to help every mom out there to find the perfect home
business or job and find true success in it. I believe this
starts with taking a close look at what makes the individual
mom 'tick' as a person and then brainstorming ideas that
will suit them well and that they will be able to stay
passionate about for the long run.
I have written a free 7 Day eCourse for moms who want to
find a way to stay home and earn an income. You can

I invite every subscriber to interact with me about the
topics we cover so that I can help them explore their work
at home dreams.
